Visitor Information

A warm welcome to first-time visitors: access for all, what to expect on a Sunday, and the monthly fellowship tea.

Whether this is your first visit, your tenth, or you have not been to a church service in many years — you are welcome at Harlesden Baptist Church. We are an ordinary fellowship of people from many backgrounds who meet to worship Jesus Christ, and who are glad you are thinking of joining us.

Access for everyone

A purpose-built ramp leads from the pavement up to the main entrance. It is wide, gently sloped, and fitted with handrails on both sides. It is in regular use by:

👶 Mothers with buggies

No need to fold a pram or carry a baby up steps — wheel straight up the ramp and into the foyer.

👵 The older generation

A gentle slope is kinder on knees, hips and balance than a flight of steps. Take it as slowly as you need.

♿ Wheelchair users

Full wheelchair access from the street to the sanctuary. Designated wheelchair spaces are available inside.

🚶 Anyone needing a gentler way in

If steps are a struggle on any given day, the ramp is the easier route in — for visitors as well as members.

If you have any specific accessibility need we have not anticipated — hearing support, large-print materials, a quiet space for a child with sensory needs — please mention it to a steward on the door or ring the church beforehand and we will do our best.

What a Sunday service looks like

Our main service is at 11:00 am on Sunday morning. Doors open at around 10:30 for tea, coffee and conversation. The service itself runs for roughly an hour and a quarter and includes singing, prayers, Bible readings, a sermon, and a time for offering. Children of all ages are welcome in the main service; we have a children's ministry running in parallel for the older children once the service begins.

You will not be asked to give in the offering. You will not be asked to stand up and introduce yourself. You will not be put on a mailing list. You are free to simply come, listen, watch, and leave again — or stay for tea afterwards, whichever you prefer.

Monthly fellowship tea

On the first Sunday of each month, the service is followed by a longer fellowship time with tea, coffee and refreshments in the hall. It is one of the warmest moments in the church's month — people linger, conversation flows, new visitors are introduced, and old friendships are kept up. If your first visit happens to fall on a first Sunday, you have picked a very good day to come.

On other Sundays there is still tea and coffee served before and briefly after the service, but the longer fellowship gathering is reserved for the first Sunday of the month.

Finding us

The church stands at 27 Acton Lane, London NW10 8UX, a few minutes' walk from Harlesden underground station (Bakerloo line / London Overground) and on several London bus routes. There is no church car park, but on-street parking is generally available on Sundays. For service times, directions, and a map, see our Location & Service Times page.

We are looking forward to meeting you

If you have a question before you visit — about access, about what to wear (anything you like), about bringing children, about anything — please feel free to contact us or simply turn up. There is no wrong way to come to church.
