Jesus asks the man

When Jesus finished the story, He looked at the expert in the law and asked: "Which of these three men do you think was a neighbour to the man who was attacked?" The answer was obvious. Not the priest. Not the Levite. The one who STOPPED. The one who CARED. The one who GAVE. "The one who had mercy on him," the expert answered. Notice - he could not even bring himself to say the word "Samaritan". He just said "the one who had mercy". His old feelings about Samaritans were still there. But Jesus' point had landed.
