Modern ministry — established to meet contemporary safeguarding policy requirements Safeguarding Lead of record: Deacon John Mobolaji Giwa [Current Safeguarding Lead — to confirm; other Safeguarding Team members — to confirm]

The Safeguarding Team ensures that Harlesden Baptist Church is a safe place for everyone, with particular care for children, young people, and vulnerable adults. The team implements HBC’s safeguarding policy, handles concerns confidentially and consistently, provides safeguarding training to ministry leaders and volunteers, and works in line with Baptist Union of Great Britain guidance and statutory requirements.

The historical primary sources for HBC (the 2015 Anniversary Booklet, the 1990 Centenary Booklet, and the 1920s/30s scrapbook) do not contain dedicated Safeguarding Team material — safeguarding as a formalised, documented ministry function is largely a development of the last two decades. The current team structure, the named safeguarding deputies, and the procedure for raising a concern should all be confirmed with the team. The detailed content of HBC’s safeguarding statement is the proper source for the public-facing description.

Sources: minimal historical material; description to be built with the team’s current statement of policy.
