First major gathering of the new year [Current coordinator — to confirm]

The January Rally is HBC’s first major gathering of the new year — a celebration of thanksgiving for everything the Lord did the year before, and a launch-pad of prayer and commitment for the year ahead. It is, in many years, the moment the church first comes together in full strength after Christmas to set the tone for the months to come.

The 2015 Anniversary Booklet does not contain a stand-alone chapter on the January Rally, though Watchnight services, week-of-meetings programmes, and new-year covenant services all have a long tradition at HBC stretching back to the founding era (the church’s first New Century Fund Sale of Work was held over 31 May / 1 June 1899 — a similar pattern of marking transitions with corporate gathering and giving). The current January Rally programme and coordinator should be confirmed.
